Various cpu-collectors websites use a different grouping.
what is better? (I am trying to made two-way selection... but it's not easy:) )

Next questions:
TX486DLC is 486 or 386 family?
"VIA Cyrix" is VIA or Cyrix manufacturer?

TX486DLC is a 486 upgrade for a 386 socket (same as Cyrix 486DLC).

VIA Cyrix is manufactured by VIA, who took over Cyrix.

Thank you Debs, but I knew that Smile
The question is... will you put tx486dlc in 386 or 486 page at your website?
the same is about via-cyrix
Thanks!

i've read somewhere VIA Cyrix III was produced at National's fabs, btw no 6x86 was produced by cyrix for example, we could call the category "name of company that states it was/is their product" or whatever

could it be you're preparing an homepage? - looking forward to see all this eastern chips in adequate categories

the 486DLCs are in 80386 category in my list, VIA CYRIX III have VIA as manufacturer (both the Cyrix and Centaur designed chips)

In chipdb.org i am (trying) to go for whats printed on the chip. This because i can not demand from the visitor that he knows that the chip he has, that says 486 is infact a 386. So if the chip print says "Cyrix 486" its found under "Cyrix 486".

Another example should Pentium Pro Overdrives be under Pentium Pro or Pentium II?

I dont think this is a matter of right and wrong but what your goal with your page is.

I prefer to group by family. People (I mean normal people, not CPU collectors) tend to look for all chips within certain family.
