Intel A80386-20 fake

This was uploaded to the chipdb.org database just now.

Any specific details except the bad print that point it being a fake? Where the i386 logo in use when the A80386-20 was around for example?

Got one without a logo with datecode 1988, week 45



On it's own this doesn't prove that the one you showed with the logo is fake, but alongside the look of the lettering (the font looks wrong and they look engraved as opposed to etched) I would say it supports the idea Smile

hmpf. It has rounded edge because the original printing was removed Smile and the following coating makes the edges less "sharp"

Your image shows a A80386DX-20 the fake one above is a A80386-20.

I'd say Intel started using the DX shortly after week 12 in 1988. Does anyone have similar chips to confirm?

ahah.. now I see the first image cpu, yeah that is a bad fake. When I made my posts your first picture did not show up!
