I have a mercury KOB740CFDMx motherboard with an AMD Duron 800mhz socket A processor, it has SiS740 northbridge and SiS962L southbridge chipsets. The board supports 266mhz fsb and has 2GB ddr ram 266mhz. Can I upgrade the processor to a Athlon XP 2600+?

P.S. I already know this is a dinosaur LOL

Your processor is soldered on to the board, so unless you know how to remove a soldered in CPU, you would risk damaging the system trying to upgrade the processor.

In this case I recommend buying a new motherboard.
