Here is something you don't see everyday.
A nice DEC Alpha 21164-P6 433Mhz processor
in a 499 socket.

Well, at least, it's the first one I've seen with the
lift arm to help retrieve the CPU from the socket.
All the others that I have had you have to "gently"
pry the Alpha chip out of the socket with a flat head
screwdriver using the patience of Job lest you
"chip the chip". Smile

aghhh.. so it was you that bought the board.. thought hard about getting it

seen about 4 over the last 3 years.. nice board to have Smile

That looks like a motherboard out of a Fiery print server.

Nice chip and board! I have a few similar chips in my collection. I acquired them maybe around 2005 but I don't see them around any more. Here's mine. Not the best picture of the year Don't want to take over too much forum space either Wink

Here are some pics of one of my Alphas on a 24767 board out of a Compaq


Between the chip and heat sink was a graphite sheet to promote heat xfer.

Here she is in all here glory resting in the 499 socket
