If you could keep three cpu related items in your collection, and you had to get rid of the rest, what would they be?

For me it would be..

1) Intel 486 DX25. I wanted one so bad when they came out. They were $$$$$!

2) Dec J-11. One of the coolest looking chips on the planet. I only wish I had a board.

3) Sun workstation motherboard. I have never seen component density on such an old motherboard. Very, very cool.

Three items you would keep and why...

My SN514, the loaded MDS-4 CPU-Board and the white KIM-1.

btw, what yould you offer for a Dec J-11 board?
Oh, I remember, 25 bucks:-)

What was the SUN workstation? I have several ones but not a single one is packed like my Compaq LTE 286 motherboard - two boards about a dollarnote small, packed from both sides with chips and clipped together.

KIM-pic in a later edit:-)

For me:

1) My C4004. Not because this is the classic and famous C4004. This C4004 because I had it only with successive trades, starting from some cheap old Intel chips find on ebay. And I'm pretty proud lol.

2) An IBM POWER2. I love this chip, like all big white chips of the big blue.

3) Andamus's Alpha 21364 Proto. Oh yes.

...OK Laughing

3) An HP 5061-3001, the kind of chips why I love collecting CPUs

In no particular order...

The CPU that started it all. We where throwing stuff out at work, and for some reason i got this one out of a server. Weighing it in my hand i remember being really impressed by its weight. All of a sudden there was a bright light from the sky, angels singing, and a voice told me "Thomas, your mission is to collect cpus" Wink

Only a month after i became a member here i got the opportunity to buy this one in a group buy. For a guy sitting with a few 486:s, three Pentiums and a pentium Pro this was the holy grail.

Cpu or not, to have a "limited" something and on top of that only 1000 made is on my top three list.

Totally awesome.. the pentium pros come 4th on my list. I never owned a working system myself when they came out, but I used one at work. Noisy machine with a stupid cooling system that would embarrass even a hardcore overclocker at the time.

I really like the GI Pic and the IBM mainframe cpus!
