I just bought this board for the Weitek socket. Can anyone identify the slot at the bottom? Looks like 8-bit ISA plus 16-bit ISA, but that would make no sense. I can't see a purpose for the 16-bit ISA part. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

| In my opinion, it's a proprietary slot for memory expansion. |

Thanks. I can't see the traces well enough to see where they go. With 16 SIMM slots, it never occurred to me that they would provide the means for more _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

It is External memory card slot.
It may look like this:

This kind of slot on OPTi 386/486 motherboard is often a specific slot for memory expansion board.
This said, on this specific board, it's an external cache slot. It works with a proprietary 128 KB board. You have to close 1-2 on J2/J3 to enable it.
It's a rare but nice 486 board. This chipset doesn't support more than 1MB SIMMs, so 16MB max and it's limited to 25 MHz, but if you can solve the damages from the battery leak, it works fine _________________ ES-Only Collector : http://www.engineering-sample.com
