I've been looking to upgrading my P4 system and I'm trying to be very specific about the specs of the upgrade processor. I'm trying to get a good overclock on air cooling and without blowing up the voltage regulator on my aging P4 board. I'm figuring you guys are the experts and I want to know what you think.

So heres my exact situation:

I'm trying to stick to a 533mhz fsb processor because I'm running a special i845pe board (Albatron PX845PEV-800 Anniversary Edition, only 1000 produced, so I've heard) capable of 800mhz fsb (845pe was only rated for 533 in the first place), but I don't know how much more it can do beyond that. Considering its special nature, it has better caps than your typical 845 board, but presscot CPUs have power ratings that are also far from typical. From what I gather, the G1 stepping is about as good as it gets for socket 478 prescotts and they are all rated at 89 watts where some of the other steppings are rated for over 100 watts. My end goal is 4+ ghz and maxing the fsb potential of the board while I'm at it. The CPU cooler I have currently is the Thermaltake Volcano 7+ which is rated for prescotts up to 3.6ghz, but I'm hoping a G1 would be cooler than say a E0 or older version.

So the CPU I feel is best is the 2.8/533/1m/G1/SL8JX. It is the only G1 stepping for socket 478 with the 533 fsb. Now here is the problem. I can't find one! So what do I do? Should I go with an older E0 @ 533 fsb which is an easy find or should I wait for this rare G1 CPU to show up on ebay at some point, or should I look into a D1 stepping northwood of a simmilar speed.

What do you think? Take the poll and explain your reasoning.
