Hey if you think you have an idea tell me,

I am running a new QX9650 in my computer that i recently assembled,
and installed an OS no problem, but after a few reboots my cpu was clocking at 2GHz then a couple more reboots later it ran at 2.4GHz.

I figured that i would just try and bring it back to the 3GHz mark n i overclocked it, then it raced to 3.8GHz well that was a lil more than the warrenty covers so i undid the overclocking, it ran at 3 for a while now it is stuck on 2.4 and if i overclock it now it only goes like 2.6????

sooooooo confuzzeld Confused

if you have any ideas email me at,
Brell@hiptop.com.au

any ideas would be greatly appreciated
thanks guys

Current system:

    Striker II Extreme - Motherboard
    QX9650 - CPU
    OCZ 4GB DDR3 2*2 - RAM
    EN9800GX2 - Graphics card

Intel Enhanced Speedstep : frequency is automatically decreased when there is few use of the cpu, to save some power.

I don't belive that speed step would or could do that???? Confused

Maybe I'm wrong, but you can see that when the computer turns on it runs through POST and then it displays cpu blah blah blah 2.4GHz - 4cpus then later down it say intel QX9650 - 3GHZ, then when i load into windows and find compputer details it shows intelll blah blah blah - 3GHz @ 2.4GHz

If this is caused by Speedstep Evil or Very Mad how can I piss it off?

or

Could it be possible that overclocking it may have cuase this problem? Sad

Thanks for your reply Mixeur

i WOULD BE QUITE CONFIDENT IN SAYING IT IS ALSO THE SPEEDSTEP KICKING IN , GO INTO BIOS AND LOOK FOR AN OPTION TO CHANGE THAT, USUALLY ITS IN THE POWER CONTROLS SECTION OF THE BIOS. Just disable it and it will stay at 3.0 for you, but theres no real need to turn it off unless youre going to continue to o/c the beast more. And if so theres a number of things you should also turn off as well, but i dont have the time to go into it deeply right now. And sorry bout the caps at the beginning of this post.

Thanks Chiefish,

Currently I'm at work so i am unable to try it, but I have a couple other things that I am having trouble with, and its the PCI slots, I have a killerNIC card and a Cisco wirless card, but both of them refuse to play, I installed another wireless card and it seemed to work fine, in the second slot, so that slot should be working, and the wireless card in the first slot should work becuase i can see the card in device manager, but it doesnt allow me to install it, but for sum reason unbeknownst to me, the KillerNIC card flashes lights in the second slot but cant be seen in the device manager, is there sum setting i might be missing.

I have been fixing pc's since i was a kid but i seem to be having serious issues with this one, if you have more advice email me on brell@hiptop.com.au that way i can recieve it faster.

thanks for your help Very Happy
