More information is getting revealed about next-generation AMD microarchitecture, codenamed "Zen". First reports on "Zen" processors surfaced back in January, and earlier this month Fudzilla shared some details on Zen-based desktop CPUs. This week Fudzilla reported on "Zen" Opteron server microprocessors, coming in 2016. According to Fudzilla, the CPUs will incorporate up to 8 CPU clusters, a DDR4 memory controller, a security processor, I/O controllers, but will lack an on-chip GPU. Each CPU cluster will be comprised of 4 "Zen" cores with dedicated 512 KB level 2 caches, and 8 MB level 3 cache, shared between the cores. In maximum configuration, an 8-cluster microprocessor will come with 16 MB of L2 cache and 64 MB of L3 cache. Each core will support some form of simultaneous multithreading and will run two threads in parallel.
MB, not GB
I saw the GB and thought it was HBM being called L3, but it's actually a misprint.
It was a typo. I changed it to "MB". Thank you for the correction!
Xeons looks like sh!t compared to this monster... I hope it'll be true. Good luck AMD!
TDP
Are there any romurs about the TDP?
This is maybe the 1kW TDP class ;-)
No really hope AMD will build better CPUs for the future.
