AVICC is, or will be the Association of Vintage IC Collectors
The shipping manager was the first part, I soon will be adding a system to better track things that collectors have shipping here, and a bidding help request tool

It's a secret club where people nod, wink, give funny handshakes and wear strange hats.
Seriously though, CPUShack runs a great service (the AVICC shipping service) where cpus can be shipped to him and he will pack then up and ship in one lot to you when you want. It's invaluable to foreign collectors and everyone who uses it is very grateful and appreciative of John's time and effort.

to put the AVICC shipping part in plain words

the 6502 you have looked at would cost me $88.93 to ship to Australia

if i ship to AVICC in the US... it would cost me $7 Very Happy

when you have enough chips at AVICC to be shipped to you (your choice how small or large a package) CPUShack will then package all your chips together so you are only paying for one combined shipment.

This works out a lot cheaper than getting chip bought in the US shipped directly to you.

Also a lot of sellers in the US wont ship outside of the US, so shipping to AVICC allows me to buy chips that i normally cant buy Very Happy

I also routinely snipe US-only auctions for others and form time to time sell off extra chips that a collector may have gotten in a big lot on ebay and had shipped here.

Thanks for asking and thanks for explaining Smile

I can see why the Aussies, like me, would think it's such a great service... I've quickly realised (a) we are really far away down here, and (b) we have a much smaller population and, therefore, market!

Can I be as bold as to ask what is required to be part of the "club"?

i have almost given up on Oz ebay... i pick up probably 1 thing a month
most of the time it is cheaper to buy in the US and get shipped here.

Even before i started using AVICC.. most of the time it was cheaper for me buy in the US and ship direct, rather than buying stuff on the east coast of Oz and shipping to WA.

If you ask CPUShack very nicely he mite add u Wink

But for real.. just PM him a Name, Oz shipping address & a email address so he can add you and supply you with an access password and the AVICC shipping address to supply the seller. Very Happy

Then just add the address to your PP addresses. I normally let sellers know that even thou i am registered in OZ, that if i win that I will be shipping to a US address. Most sellers are happy with that, long as they know before the auction ends.

Some sellers have it set that ppl not registered in the US cant bid... so then you need to use AVICC's bidding service.

Not sure if this will be a double post, thought I posted but it didn't save? Sorry if it is!

I definitely agree with you on eBay down here, I search daily but end up selecting "Worldwide" Smile I can appreciate the WA postage wouldn't help, either Smile

Thanks for the suggestions and I'll do both to boost my chances!

Hi
I now know how to walk AVICC, I thought it was only for the sale of John so that keeps my chips to make a big package.
Can I therefore engage in AVICC if one day you never know
It's hard work for you John, congratulations
Thanks
Pascal
