It looks OK to me. It doesn't have the straight leg 'R' that almost all fakes have. Print looks a bit bubbly though. _________________ General failure reading disk in drive A

I would guess its fake, the print looks like it was put on with a sponge, and is not very crisp along the edges. But let me see the lower half as well to make a good decision. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E. |

Hard to determine, might be fake or not depending on the second half.
I bid on fake. |

100% GENUINE. Not a fake.
Now if you show the rest of the chip and it looks like a 4 year old has scratched their name for the markings, then it is clear a fake, but from what I can see in the top half now, I say it is not a fake. |

The reason why I say I think not fake is that I have seen something like this on several 486, and some 486 in my collection have similar finish to the white print. The picture you have is very close up, so the sponge effect looks worse than it really is.
The edges of the cpu top is also with angle, so it is not the complete ground down top fake.
Also, white printing on fakes was pretty good, so ya, I stand by my decision based on the top half of the cpu I can see. |

OK, just reveal the bottom half.
to my confuse, the bottom half looks pretty genuine. except that it is SX838 which never heard anything of it _________________ My vintage CPU collection:www.cpumuseum.com

I say genuine. I think a new sspec.. nice
On my SX-25 series, the "INTEL (M)(C)1989" is sometimes '89'92 copyright, but it is not consistent and certainly not linear in time.
This is the closest I can find in the markings you have..

to where
the engraved markings look good Hugo.. and production date fits in. Maybe a sSpec produced for an OEM
Now smithy has another sSpec to find _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:
