The School, where I work, is going to throw an old Monster VCR out, next week, is there anything of value in it, that I have to save, before it is gone.
It is a SONY U-Matic VO-1810, from 1971. Here is a foto of a simular one:

| I would save it anyway. As we collect old CPUs and stuff, people collect VCRs. There won't be any CPU or microcontroller in it (since they weren't really around then), but try looking on eBay to guage it's value. VCRs only became popular in the 80s, so this one is quite early in that timescale. |

That is just the problem. Beside my CPU Collection, I have around 15 old Computers, in my little room. If I brought i home, my Wife would kill me
I must find a Danish Collector of VCR's, It is much to heavy to be sendt, 25 Kg I think. |

Hehe same situation with me... but I have plans for new premises (well, I need extra space for a PDP 11/70... it's huge!).
Good luck finding a home for it... it would be a real shame to see it meet and unhappy ending! |

Normally those machines are not of a big value.
Of course there are exceptions, try to find a discussion board for HiFi stuff with a vintage section, maybe you find a lucky interested buyer.
Recently I sold a tape deck from Optonica (original price around 2000 DM in the early nineties - 1000 Euro) for 50 euro, not a big deal but more than junk;-) _________________ You may use the photos I have posted here under CC BY-NC-SA license. |

A topic like this one might answer your questions: http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9680&highlight=scrappers |

| Properly adjusted, it will record and play regular black and white television video and audio just awfully, awfully well. |
