It definetly looks like and "II" at first glance. But...it isn't. Smile

skold do you have any Cyrix GX chips? I heard from very reliable source that they don't put ES on them, but stamp on the bottom left or right with a II, laser inscribed.

so is it 'socket 7' or '321 pin pga'
heh

Also, what is true:
- A socket 7 connector has 321 holes.
- A MediaGX is using all of these holes (or close to it).
- A "normal" CPU like an MII does'n use all of these holes.

So physically both fit in the socket, but electrically they are different.

It's simple to see, a MediaGX has 5 rows of pins all around it while an MII has 2 rows with 4 pins...

GRRRR
only SOME Socket 7 dont use all pins
Only SOME MII dont use all pins

http://www.cpushack.net/gallery/showimg.php?file=/chippics/Cyrix/MII/CyrixM2400D095-22_B.jpg

This MII uses them all.

they are power and ground pins which are OPTIONAL and design dependant.
