This is IBM Power4+ 8 ways MCM 1.45G.

I can't find the way to detach the cpu from the heatsink so it weighed approx. 2-3 pounds.

i also had this power4+ cpu, and i wanted to detach the cpu out of the heatsink. this day was a very black day in my life since i am collecting
cpus. i killed it!! pure horror. Mad
but now i know how it looks inside and for the next one i have a idea how to get the heatsink off.

i found a very complex way to open a IBM 4381 MCM. i think there is
nowhere any existing way to open it without damaging. so i decided
to start the 4381 demounting project Smile
i got help from my best friend who has a cnc controlled mill. how we
did this? a tutorial article will be shortyl released on my webstite. i will
inform you when i have finished the article. i hope this article will help
other collectors who will also try to open a 4381.

now enjoy this great chip with 36 die cores. Smile

Hi,
interesting! Well done. Very nice picture, definitely BETTER than the official IBM images of this kind of MCM.
Thank You!
