max3 sad to hear that you lost files. Disabling autorun isn't solution because you cann't change system settings on all PC where you are putting in your flash.

PS. Today I have installed M$ software and it was horrible slow Sad (Pentium M + 1 GB DDR + 160 GB SATA). MS Defender process eat from 25-100% of CPU usage when I was moving from folder to folder. Installing and opening open office in background hangs on notebook for few minutes. Changed to AVG 9.0 - not cheetah but much better. I hadn't time to check that if I disable defender I will disable antivirus too. Anyway I will back to it soon.

Antivirus requires a lot of skills by the user.

The more you know the less you can get stuck if something fails, even if not always.

For my brother, a notorious "can you do it for me, I understand nothing of this stuff", McAfee antivirus + all other stuff included is heaven.
If anything fails he is screwed.

I have Antivir, it does a good job. But I really do care for what I do on the net and the data I work with.

To me the problem is not 100% all between the chair and the kayboard.
Who used Norton 2001 onwards knows what I'm talking about.

I tried AVG, Zonealarm, Avast and a couple more, to come back to Avira, mostly for it's simplicity. And they have a great free software.
