Core memory is very cool...so much work for such a small result (although at the time it was big result) _________________ My former Intel collection:

Thanks Silice.
Your nice Core board made me look closer at an old board I got in a batch of nice Burroughs mainframe boards I bought just after joining this group.
This Dataram board was also covered by a plastic panel, so I opened it up and Wallah! -- a large 16Kx16 Core memory from 1977.
It doesn't have any Ferrite cores and the wires are woven like a fair maidens hair. Looks like years of weaving work!
How does this work without the Ferrite cores?
Is this board worth much? _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

Hmmm. I can see or feel nothing but smooth wire mat.
Could Ferrite cores be made microscopic in size?? _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

My little Olympus cam won't magnify enough to show anything...
Maybe Santa will bring me a microscope like windmillers...hehe. _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

Hi Pascal,
I'm happy to know You are a Nikon user!
I have an old but great (IMHO) Coolpix 5000: the macro and closeup focusing capabilities of these cameras are impressive even for today's standards.
My only complaint is for the noise amount, acceptable only at low ISO (100 and 200).
Excellent pictures indeed.

The flower symbol and super close-up settings don't give enough magnification... _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

I remember for the first hard time with system 5800 Singer, 4k Feritte core and punched card. Ufff.
Thanks for Ferrite Owners, it was nice. |
