Hi , I want to to buy some chips from a stranger, I need to pay about 1500usd by paypal. Is this protectable by paypal ? thanks.

If it says he is a verified seller you should be. Make sure you get insurance and a trackable shipping number with signiture. This will also protect him from you as well.

might no insurance, because I prefer a much lower value declaration to avoid custom hassle.

Without insurance you could get Royally screwed, and I would be surprised that anyone would mail to China that much value without insurance. I know I would never do it. As a seller he could also get screwed if you decide to do a chargeback to the creditcard for whatever reason.

i am not vey famaliar with the chargeback of creditcard.
but I can only chargeback my creditcard payment within 48 hours.
As for insurance, if by express mail the insurance is not a problem i think, provided that the seller is honest.

With express mail international it is only covered up to $100 for free, anything more must be purchased. But thats assuming they are shipping from the US.

Priority MailŪ International should be fine. and cheaper than express mail

Its still only covered up to $100 for free, anything more needs to have insurance purchased.

| For $1500... it it worth it to declare a lower value (and risk not getting paid out insurance for that) if something goes wrong? |

I'd ask for forum member's help for payment and shipping if possible.
I believe it's the safer way to protect the purchase. |
