| ok so i have a sony laptop which supports dual channel. i have a pair of 512mb pc 4200 and one 1gb of pc5300. now since my laptop will only supposrt upto pc 4200, which one is a better option? |

also, i have tried running the 1gb and one 512, no post. and the 1gb works on this laptop at pc 4200.

1gb is better, the memery controller will just run the ram slower than what it can do...
As for ram stcks combination it's up to your manual. |
