I think the board with white ceramic C4004 will sell for that amount. chipcollector's board may sell for $600 - $700.

The "BI" is probably an indication of the chip's use on the board. If you notice, all the C4001's on the board have the "BI" on the gold lid, and even the black one has it printed on it, but the one pictured has it stamped on the ceramic. The C4001 is a ROM, so it is very possible that a custom run of the chips was created for a customer with the required program embedded as part of the manufacturing run (i.e customer does not want to program the ROM). Manufacturer then finds out they need a few more. They reach into the generic ROM bin that have not been programmed yet, put the custom program in the generic chip and then stamp it with the "BI" to match the rest of the chips in the order. The "BI" is probably related to the use of the chip on the board. Maybe "Binary Input"? Very nice board.

What does it say under the capacitor next to the 4004 - "... processor"? And are there any indications as to who manufactured the board?

I've found 400x stuff in strange places before, like this 1972 POS terminal board with P4003's:

No CPU, unfortunately. The empty sockets had display driver chips (DM8880).

This is the same as the one you sell recently on ebay.
even the handwritten markings are the same.
Just most C4001s are changed to P4001s.
Why did you do that?
It is no more authentic now - or which one is the original???

Nice C4004 anyway - funny part number 2708, thats what confused me when I saw it a second time and let me compare....

I have 2 boards, one with a c4004 white ( has 3 c4001's and a few P4001's). I switched the C4001's with the plastic ones on the Grey board for fun ( Image above), just to see what all of you would say. Now I put them back into their original places and up on ebay it goes Cool
