After adding some more K6 to my collection I checked them for differences:

what I found:

on week 9 and 10/1997 PR2 K6s AMD is not in line with rest of print
all PR2 marked chips seems to be made by IBM No, found this one from Debs: http://www.ukcpu.net/Collection/z-Sold/Processors/AMD/x86/K6-Family/K6/Images/K6-PR2-200ALR_RevB_25755Ne.jpg
markings on ceramic 25755 (most with laser, some with golden print) + 2300XXXXXX (only laser marking) + CANADA, CA or USA (laser) + I (most with laser, some with golden print)
earliest K6 without PR-Marking is week 13/1997 here: http://www.chipdb.org/img-amd-amd-k6-166alr-2.9v-no-core-text-293.htm

Earliest 200MHz Rev.B chip without PR-Marking made by AMD week 23/1997 here: http://www.chipdb.org/img-amd-amd-k6-200alr-rev-b-no-core-text-3567.htm
And a strange 233MHz chip with laser speed marking in upper right corner

Thank you, but I think this one was made by IBM...

I think they were made by IBM when:

laser marking Canada/CA/USA and I for IBM in the right corner
no Malay markings

I haven`t found a 166MHz Rev. B chip made by AMD! check your collections please!

I checked my not so vast collection. I have 3 classic K6 chips. 2 233's and 1 200. The 200 also has 200 in the upper right corner and sais it's made in the USA.
I haven't got any 166 ones it seems.

I didn't even know there were K6's made by IBM. It seems the IBM one has a slightly smaller heatspreader

Edit: The IBM ones seem to have another difference, very easy to notice. The IBM ones have voltages like "3.20" and "2.90" instead of "3.2" and "2.9"
Edit2: Not all the IBM ones have the extra "0"
Are there any AMD ones that have the extra "0"?

Ah, there it is Wink

Did you notice the heatsink on the IBM ones is a little bit smaller then the AMD ones?

No Malay markings, the golden I in the bottom right corner, the black writing below the heatsink. Seems it's an IBM one alright

Edit:Btw, I love your socket 7 mainboard. Looks so small it should fit in any case ;D

Great information, I always thought the K6 marked with an I were made by IBM and this info really backs up that idea!

I didn't clean up the thermal goo too well, sorry Razz

I took an extra pic of the tiny '200 Mhz' in the top right corner as it was impossible for me to capture it all in a single pic.
It's not 166 but it is an IBM

Edit:How do you do the fancy thing with the filesize and the text in it?

Tetrium: When you write a reply there is an "Add an attachment" part of the editor.

Jedi: I'll check my collection on weekend.
