Triple or dual core?

I'm planning to upgrade my P4HT single core unit but I'm a bit confused about the processor to use. My usual tasks involves web-surfing, gaming, music downloads, movie downloads, game downloads and photo editing. Most sites recommend AMD's triple core, but somehow it lags behind in some games and its quite expensive. In these tasks, with a midrange card like Radeon 4670, do the dual cores work just fine? Pls. help..thanks

That's an intel processors motherboard.

You cannot pop in an amd processor, you have to buy all new parts.
I believe that's your case, no?

You should buy some cheap athlon II x4 or phenom II x4, they have good prices and you can find good deals.
