heh heh heh I was looking at those today myself and was just thinking what a shame, as on the bottoms I can see some Intel logos with date codes.
I wouldnt be surprised if someone else starts advertising chips like those as Grey Trace Chips hah hah hah _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E. |

If they get any serious bids as gold scrap, maybe I should open up the tens of thousands of grey ceramic TTL chips I have and claim they are good for gold _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Debs, with "thousands" of these, you might be a goldmine for scrappers!
Go for it while Gold is still high. _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

| But it is interesting; it seems the manufacturers used a lot more gold in the "good old days", 70s or 60s ... Time to open a few of those old ICs. |

The best thing about it is that they don't need to have any gold content - they just need to be photographed in light that makes it look like they do And as I got given a large sack fulll of them (over 100 pounds) I could be laughing - I just have to learn to be dishonest (or act ignorant) in the listing _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Well, if they are early 1980's or earlier and are brown/grey ceramic 'D' style sandwich chips, they most likely have a Gold die cavity, so you should open a few up and show those in the listing, and you won't have to even feel guilty!! _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

Hey, I don't even need to crack open my chips - just a little Photoshop will do wonders:
