| This is only the second system I've built, so I'm pretty new at this. I recently built a computer for my parents. I'm using a Biostar a785g3 motherboard with the AMD Athlon II X2 250 CPU. The computer runs great, but I benchmarked it on CUPID and it's only running at 800 MHz when it's rated at 3 GHz. The benchmark says the multiplier is only x4, and I see most of them are at x15. Any help here guys? |

It's a power saving feature. When idle the cpu lowers its frequency to save power and generate less heat. _________________ Power without the price. |

| So under full load it should just up to around 3 GHz? |

Try to run something CPU intensive in background, and see what the CPUID/CPUz program shows.

| Thanks guys, problem fixed. Under power options, the power scheme was set to portable/laptop. I switched it to desktop, running right at 3 GHz. |
