I found a short note here about eBay auction for MITS Altair with Intel C8080-8. It's dated by July 10, so my guess is the system was auctioned at the beginning of July. I can't find the auction. Did anybody see it?

I dont have info on the 8080, but I did post the mcs4 set he is talking about selling for $888 1 c4004 and the rest plastic with gold legs.
I would like to see a pic of the alleged C8080-8. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E.

vintchip's messages are definitely for this year, but maybe the auction was in May or June. He writes about "Kenbak-1" computer at the end of June, but the auction ended in May:

Pretty impressive price, $25,600, for this very early (1971) personal computer, and very impressive computer by itself - no-processor TTL logic only design, about 1MHz speed, 256 bytes RAM, three registers, a few different addressing modes, support simple arithmetic and logical operations, bit manipulation, and conditional and unconditional jumps. More about it:

Well, if you take in consideration that;
- only 40 or 50 units was ever built
- it is recognized as first commercially available personal computer
- it looks great
- have additional documentation
maybe the price is not so big.
Hey, just take a look at cooler (top-left). Great! |

A very rare piece, especially since the designer is the owner when sold. And condition is great as well.
That cooler is pretty primative looking, but must have done the job well enough. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E. |
