Same thing works with a blowtorch (the difference is, that your mother is not angry icon_dance ).

Just be careful about cooking in the oven. There'll be some solder (lead) vapors stuck to the walls of the oven.

But it is an otherwise efficient way to remove the chips.

Have you worked out the time and temperature settings for us so we can do it too.

Typical temps are 350F-375F surface mount.

400F for through hole (like DIPs)

Usually no more then 5-10 minutes at temp
