Just finished writing up a pretty thorough iPhone CPU evolution article.

Let me know what you think

Nicely compiled and to see the evolution, thanks John Smile I've been wanting to open my 3GS but don't have the tools (or the nerve!)...

Interesting to read that the 3GS' CPU is capable of 800Mhz but underclocked to 600Mhz, now if only there were still Turbo buttons Smile

Quick question, is there a GPU?

A few collectors here are really another league on passion.
Fortunately I can find lots of articles and info posted.

Yet again a renovation of my interests coming from this site, on a dark rainy day Smile

Btw, very readable work by Mr. Shack! Enjoyed it.

A very nicely done article, short, comprehensive and To the point. My cellphone can send pictures and text messages heh heh heh so none of this really affects me yet, but they sure are looking enticing these days to make an upgrade and get on the bandwagon. I love having Google and other resources at my fingertips.

yup the 2G/3G run a 200MHz PowerVR MBX Lite
the 3GS runs a PowerVR SGX535 @ 200MHz
