another 'poll' - how many of you test your chips?

ive decided to test a bunch.. i wanted to straighten the pins on this pentium overdrive i just got, and i figured what better way than sticking it in a socket!

so i figured while i have it in there, why not boot it up.. and it posts beautifully

so, i dug out all my other motherboards, and im going to try and go through all of my chips and see if they work or not.. obviously i wont be able to test the xeon, pa-risc, ultrasparc, pentium pro, opteron, etc, since i have no boards for them, but i can test the vast majority of my chips with what ive got here.

by 'test' i mean, 'does it post' .. i dont have the patience to install windows/linux on a bunch of systems to benchmark anything..

heres the systems im using to test, if anyones interested (these boards are all available for trade, as long as i get a suitable board in exchange.. i dont think any of them are anything special, but maybe someone thinks differently)

I do if possible...I have a motherboard type for almost every CPU type (from the 386 to Athlon64) for that.

i just tested all of my k6s and k5s, and the majority of them work..

i cant get the socket 3 board to post tho ;/ guess ill have to work on that

I tested all my MediaGX chips for the ID Guide.

So far I tested most of my Pentiums, all K5, K6, K6-2, K6 - III, Cyrix 6x86MX and MII, Winchips, Rise MP6, Celeron up to 566 MHz, Pentium II, and some Athlons/Durons, Pentium III and VIA C3.

I test Intels from 8088 to 486, 8087 to 387, of course not all packages, just those I have computers for.
MOS 6502 (it was great to see my "NOS 6502" in white ceramic coming up in my PET and play scramble - now it's no longer NOS;-)
I wait for the recently buyed ProLog to test 4040s - hopefully it contains a socketed CPU.
I can test Z80 with the CP/M card in my apple ][+ but never did,
some sun sparc (all what fits in IPX, LX, SS2,4,5,10,20).
...
Not that I really expect a response but:
If there's a need for anybody to let me test his chips, I do it for free - you just should pay for chip shipping of course.

i dont know if anyone else will take you up on your offer, but myself, id rather buy a few other motherboards and test them myself

Oh, I remember I have to screw my Isys Minitext. It has a 6800, I think it is socketed. So I could test 6800s too.

"In working condition" is the first criteria when I pick a chip to my collection
I test as much of my chips as possible, currently all in my collection can boot when being put in a mainboard, not all of them post though (The K6-III marketing sample just give me a BIOS checksum error)
Depends on the availability of the mainboard, sometimes I keep a chip even no mainboard is available for test (e.g NexGen Nx586 P80 VL-only)
I've got mainboards for most of my chip, from 387 (not 386 though) to socket A and NexGen

Now I got the ProLog 900 and 980.
When I get the power converter that makes 220V to 110 I will test 4002-1, 4004 and 4040.
And 4201, 4008, 4009.

I tested all without 8080, 8085, Z80, 80186 and 80188 and AMD Slot A. I bought mainboards for others cpus and when I get some processors than I always test them. Testing is good fun
