I just sealed the deal to obtain a chip I've been looking for for years!
An Intel C8080-8 in near like new condition.
Will post a pic when the chip arrives.
The C8080-8 is a "hard" chip where "hard" is defined as a chip that can take years to find. I suspect that the C8080-8 actually predates the C8080. I think the '-8' suffix indicates 8-bit and that this was dropped because it conflicted with Intel's numbering scheme where numeric suffixes on processors indicate speed rating. |

First MC8080A, then this... time to release new version of the guide?

Actually the C8080-8 is in the 2005 guide. The MC8080A didn't make
the 2005 preview but it's in the final 2005 edition of the guide.
For those curious about how the guide has been selling. Total sales the first week were 20 copies with no sales in the last 3 days.
I had honestly thought there would have been more interest, but I guess not.
That said, there probably will be a 2006 edition because I use the guide as reference so I may as well make it available to other collectors too. |

Well since this thread is only like 5 years old and Mr Phillips was very thrilled to find one of these C8080-8 I thought it would be a good place to show the before and after pics of the one I got recently. It cleaned up real well, and all the legs are in tact and straight. What a great addition to my collection. I am tempted to consider this one of very few that I know of and have seen a pic of. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E.

Added underside shot, looks to be one week earlier than the one on cpu-zone. And I dont know the date code for the one on cpu museums site. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E.
