Upgrading my CPU

I have been trying to upgrade my cpu. I contacted HP and they told me that i had to use "Athlon 64 X2 with Dual Core technology (64 Watt only)". Now, i have looked all over the web for a 64 watt cpu. I can not find one. I did find a 65 watt one. Its a "AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 (65 watt) Dual-Core Processor" Will this work. HP says it has to be (64 watt)! Will some one please tell me if it will work or not. If not, can some one tell me which one to get.

ADO5000IAA5DO has the same stepping, frequency, TDP and other features as the ADO5000DSWOF from Amazon, except that the ADO5000DSWOF has unlocked clock multiplier. So, if the ADO5000DSWOF works in your computer then the ADO5000IAA5DO will too. If you don't mind buying from places like eBay, then you can get faster processor at good price. There is Athlon 64 X2 5600+ with 65 Watt TDP, that may work in your system:

The fastest Athlon 64 X2 with 65 Watt TDP, I believe, is ADO5800IAA5DO. It's not on CPU-World for some reason.

Do you know for sure if the ADO5000DSWOF works on your system? If not then it could better to stay with processors that have the same or almost the same stepping. Your current CPU is probably is SDA3400IAA3CN or SDA3400IAA3CW - both have F2 stepping. To be safe you may want to upgrade to processor with F2 stepping, for example, ADO5200IAA6CS, ADO5000IAA5CS or ADO5000IAA5CU.

I do not know if the ADO5000DSWOF will work or not. I contacted HP and i told them i could not find a "64 watt" CPU and they gave me this link. I was blown away when the price tag slapped me side my head! For some reason this site has the one HP told me to get rated at 65 watt. HP said it was 64 watt. They said the cpu that i use to upgrade HAD to be 64 WATT ONLY. What do you think? LOL.

Here is the specs they gave me to use to upgrade:
Socket: AM2
Supports the following processors:
Athlon 64 X2 with Dual Core technology (64 Watt only)
Athlon 64
Sempron

With this info which cpu should i get. I do not need nothing fancy. just dual core. The one i have now is a 1.8 single core.

I tried to find what other people upgraded this system to, and I couldn't find anything. So, like I said before, ADO5200IAA6CS, ADO5000IAA5CS or ADO5000IAA5CU have the best chance to be supported by your motherboard. Performance difference between 5200+ and 5000+ is negligible, so you can get any one. ADO***DO or ADO***DS have slightly lower chance to be supported, but you can get faster processor.
