|
|
I got this email the other day and it looks real, right?
(See 2 attachments below)
I was suspicious that it was fake and sent a copy of it to Paypal and here is their reply:
Hello ,
Thanks for forwarding that suspicious-looking email. You're right - it
was a phishing attempt, and we're working on stopping the fraud. By
reporting the problem, you've made a difference!
Identity thieves try to trick you into revealing your password or other
personal information through phishing emails and fake websites. To learn
more about online safety, click "Security Center" on any PayPal webpage.
Every email counts. When you forward suspicious-looking emails to
spoof@paypal.com, you help keep yourself and others safe from identity
theft.
Your account security is very important to us, so we appreciate your
extra effort.
Thanks,

Hi John. I have received those emails two times in the past. When you display email code you will extract original email from sender. I have call it to PayPal and email box admin. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

Yup.. scammers being doing this for years.. just forward to spoof@paypal.com I lost count of the number of them I have forwarded.
There is only one rule with paypal... ( and most other online banking, fagbook, etc.. )
1) Only log into paypal.com directly from a new browser session. never log into it from a link in email, pdf, other web link etc..
ok, that is not 100% foolproof, but the effort required to defeat that is not worth the $3.99 refund in your paypal account for those adult items one had to return.
oh, install stuff like microsoft security essentials |
