Probably we have to sacrifice one chip to have a look
onto that die of a purple one to get closer to more informations!
I guess the purple chips are predecessors of the PowerPC601 which
were introduced in 1991 and were also capable of multiway-processing
(with less external stuff).

hhmm.....
as i remember...one chip broken in desoldering procces.... i think this must be sacrifice to take an idea if this is powerpc chips.... |

I did the de-soldering of these IBM chips, and one purple chip had a cracked corner, that came apart when I de-soldered it.
This one was bought by Silice.
