the main things are
- the ceramic has been ground down around the gold top edge (to remove old markings)
- the top markings say it was made in Malay, while the bottom say it was made in USA (A4) _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

I have get the answer by comparing this one with another one (SX962),
All looks pretty normal at me except this one is a little bit thiner than SX962!
Thank you stu, very informative guidance for insighting fake. _________________ My vintage CPU collection:www.cpumuseum.com

| I'm always amazed - is it really worth anybody's time & effort to grind down a chip just to bump up its speed a bit? |

| Makes sense, but I'm still amazed: it's a lot harder to grind down a chip cleanly than just paint and restamp it, so somebody put a lot of effort into this! |

if you have the right equipment, it would be a lot quicker grinding than coating.
a good CNC setup with diamond grinding blade you could setup to to do it all automatically _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

yah these are not one offs, they were made in china ans Taiwan by the thousands.
Many were caught when imported, some were not. Still more were sold in countries without such import checks. _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

at $150 extra each would be worth the setup to do thousands of them _________________ My former Intel collection:

I guess the key is to do it on an industrial scale, not just one at at time. In fact, the more you make the cheaper it gets per unit LOL
And getting them into the US is just like smuggling illegal drugs: a certain percentage will get confiscated, but that's just part of the cost of doing business ... |
