I have a set of the MCS4 family of chips with early
date codings. Anyone know how to decipher them?
A photo of the set can be found at:

Click the 4004 chipset link.

Thanks in advance,

Nice chips! If you decide to sell/trade them I'd be interested. Back to question... Datecode on most of 4004/4040 processors is on the back of the chip. Look for 4 digits on the back - the first two digits are the year, the third and forth digits are the week number of production. For example, 7609 is 1976, 9th week.

Hello kirkamr,

According to MCS-4 Users' manual, these chips (expect MCS40 family
CPU, peripherals) might be components pats of MCS-4 Evaluation kit.
This P4001-0009 Metal Masked ROM contains sample program for this.
If you have MCS-4 Users' manual, please refer the section "MCS-4
EVALUATION KIT USING THE 4001-0009" on the manual.

P.S. there are two chips of 4001-0009. If you decide to sell/trade,
I am interested in this ROM, especially... Smile
