There's a discussion about this topic on the Chinese forum too.
Another collector (also the webhost) provided a picture of another gold cap K6. He bought it from a local used hardware store.

id bet they made their own gold plated heat spreaders and stamped them with overclocked speeds.. then replaced the ones on the chip.

id like to see a few examples of these with the etched speed on the ceramic and see if it matches the head spreader

edit: nm, i see the 350 is visible on that one.. still, could be remarked there too Smile

did that chip come from the store damaged on the top lke that? its discolored, it might be a sign of how they got the original heat spreader off

For all the cpus with the engraved writings (intel, AMD, Other) the letter Or it has the same dimensions of Zero. This is a standard of the system that engraves. This is the first cpu that I see different. Think

This is a fake cpu
the 350MHz mark on the corner have a 'stroke' in the zero

real AMD etching (and all of my K6-2 Wink ) doesn't have that 'stroke' in the zero

I think you are referring to engraved marking K6-2. If you look at black printing K6-2, you will find there's no etching on the right-up corner at all, which indicates there could be variations in corner etching.

Here's some updated informtaion:

The back of the heatsink is also gold.
The first gold cap K6-2 was found in a NEC computer. If you guys have chance to get some old NEC PC, you may be able to verify that.

Black print K6-2 are early chips that AMD haven't implement laser etching on the ceramic, the etching is done on the metal cap instead
