|
|
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum.
I'm currently trying to figure out what would be the best CPU for me, and i'm really looking for the best possible option, without it being ridiculously expensive like i7 970 or 980x.
My current set up is as follows:
Intel Core i3 530 (happily overclocked to 4,136 GHz at 188x22, 1,328V, 41-46 celsius, air)
4 GB RAM DDR3 Corsair (soon to be
Asus P7P55 LX
ATI Radeon 5770 (soon to be x2 Crossfire)
Some have recommended that I should go for an i7 860, and some to get an i5 and overclock it, saying its the best buy option, and how you don't really gain too much with i7, how hyperthreading is overrated etc. Some even say that I would be able to overclock i5 much more then i7 while retaining much lower temperature.
On the other hand, I've read elsewhere that in order to have a mulit gpu system, you shouldn't really go for i5. So as you can see I am kinda confused now
I would really appreciate if you could help me come up with the best solution. It doesn't even have to be any of the CPUs I have mentioned.
Thanks! |

How much cash do you have to spend?
This is one aspect that counts too for a good advice. |

Thanks for the reply! Well, around $500. I could go for more tho, if it would be worth it. |

If I can get you to spend less, would you send a girl to my house?
As soon as I gather some info I'll post back. If you want to go with multi gpu configurations, you need to have a good cpu that won't bottleneck the vcards output/bandwidth.
Have you checked "tom's hardware guide"? Maybe you are nto getting your answer but sure some more ideas to build your culture on it. |

Maybe i5-760, quad core and 205$ like...
i5-750 is a few mhz lower, I have no time for an overclock comparison, but it should go good, being a quad core it's faster anyway than an i3 o'clocked to hell.
For i7 I need more checking. |

i7 860 is around 250-280$...
Lowest and has nice features, costs contained.
Look, I have no idea on how these overclock, so check i7 o'clock.
Bandwidth is limited by the motherboard, and other amenities.
Unless you get some ultra highend mobo, you can just play on cpu/ram/vidcard.
I tried my best.
P.s. You have a 200$ room for my girl Just don't send me scanned pics of both! lol |
