Hi,
What is the best way to store SMD chips? They can not be pushed into antistatic foam which will prevent them from moving. I faced this problem recently when I found than some of my smd cpus have now bended legs and even some scratches because of bed storing. How do you do it with your findings? Photos are welcome Smile.

I dont collect SMD, but I have had samples supplied to me and I have seen them stored in the following ways:

1- in the tube
2- pressed in foam in a flat case
3- secured with short pins into foam. the pins between the legs at opposite corners.

I guess pins would work in a larger block of dense foam type material.

Not many options really.

Perhaps this can help you

I have some of my CPU's displayed on my wall (pic 1) It is nice to have your friends near you Very Happy

It is easy to do with CPU's with pins, but with Chips without pins, or if you have to turn it around, to show the right side (pic 3). I have made this solution

It looks best if the CPU is lifted a little from the surface (pic 2)

2 small pices of dubbelsided tape and a little pice of a Kork floortile 3 mm.

This tape is easy to remove if you want to move it to another place

Perhaps not the best way, but it works for me, and perhaps it can give you an idea to solve your problem.

Since she has some kind of student uniform or something my guess would be his children i.e. his daughter.

By the way, interesting way to display your chips.

Using two sided tape is a good idea. Smile
I thought about using small pcb boards an solder the chips on them as most of the chips are desoldered, but using tape is faster and cheaper method.
Thanks.

I store some of my QFP chips in IC trays:

It only makes sense if you have many chips in the same package, and finding the trays may be difficult.

Very good idea! Is it a styrofoam with glued aluminium foil that is sometimes placed between radiator and the wall that the chips lay on?
