i got this chip yesterday
the seller tell me that he ever try to boot it and failed (so this chip is free as a bonus of other samples )
the chip is a socket F chip
as i know there are opteron and athlon FX in such socket
the picture i could find (mainly ebay ) has only 4 notch
and this one has 6 notch
does anyone have a idea of what it is ?
best regards

Early sample, perhaps? Many socket F Opteron chips, that I saw, had 29123 package number in the bottom left corner. Your chip has lower number. The most likely explanation is that the chip was manufactured earlier than other socket F Opterons.

it may be a Daisy Chain chip
which implies it may be a thermal / electrical sample and not suppose to be working right from the start
