Most of the members on this forum are probably to young to remember but 35 years ago video games consisted of only 1 or 2 games played with a console using the tv as the monitor. This is one of the chips that was programmed to play pong as well as 2 or 3 other games. At best the games were primitive. Yet this chip is responsible for a lot of nostalgia.

I bought one of these when they first came out at Sears. It was called Tele-Games Pong. I think it was on the market before the Atari version. Still have it somewhere. Many wasted hours on that game

It was Atari's first big contract (150,000 units for Christmas of 1975)

Atari launched a system with their own branding the next year.
