|

Hi everyone,
I have an old acer laptop with intel 945PM chipset (667Mhz FSB) and T7200 CPU with socket M running 3GB RAM.
I am trying to figure out if it is possibe to do this cpu upgrade. On one site i found this cpu P8800 which should have socket M packaging. However the cpu is running 1066Mhz FSB.
The sales guy tells me that it will work with my laptop however he cant promise what cpu speed it will run with becaus eof teh slow FSB speed of my 945PM chipset.
Would this cpu be able to run with 945PM chipset that only supports 667Mhz??
Will the cpu just slow down the bus speed to match the chipset??
I would really appreciate if someone could help me out on this.
Thanks! |

T7200 is a socket M processor. P8800 is a socket P, it may fit in your laptop (this depends whether you have socket M or socket 479), but it won't work! The fastest processors for your laptop are T7600 and T7600G. These are 333 MHz faster than the T7200. T7600G can be overclocked, but it's very difficult to find this model.
