i just noticed this rather anomalous pentium in my collection:

http://www.cpudb.com/imgs/cpus/intel/pentium-75-f.jpg

ive got literally a dozen other pentiums from 75mhz to 166mhz, and they ALL say 'intel® pentium®' but this one says 'pentium™'

is this possibly remarked? i cant think of any other reason for it..

heres the backside

For sure, it seems fake. Look at the "127" on backside.

BTW, i don't understand why remarking a CPU into the slower Pentium Eh?

i never noticed the 127 before but that looks very obvious now that i look at it.. the bottom two lines on the back also look odd

it seems like it would be remarked, but i cant imagine why. 75mhz is the slowest socket 5/7 pentium isnt it?

and its not like it could be a remarked k5 or something. those would also be faster, not to mention have a different lid..

I don't think it's fake too. Intel marked their Pentium 60 and 66 processors with "TM" because they didn't have registered trademark at the time. "Pentium" trademark was registered in May of 1994, but even after that they continued to mark their Pentium processors (including Pentium 75/90/100) with "TM" until about week 25 - 29th of 1995. The week maybe incorrect, I just tried to guess it by looking at different Pentiums in my, and not only my, collection. I don't know why it took intel almost a year to change markings.

Here is another one with "TM":

Here is a fake chip, produced in week 11th of 1995, but marked with R in circle:

I have no idea. I'll take a look at my chips to confirm if it's usual or not.
