GI 5111 to 5114, predate 4004, but what are they for?

does anybody know what this is???
Date code predates 4004

GI for General Instruments I guess
and any idea what the wholes are for in this kind of package?

they are for retension brackets to hold them in the socket

Based on the consecutive part numbers, they're probably custom chips - much like this set from AMI:



As such, you aren't likely to find any concrete information on them.

Re: "Date code predates 4004" - a *LOT* of ICs predate the 4004... Wink
