Hi,
I am going to change my processor from celeron .
I have a mobo of which i do not have idea if it supports HT processors or not.
As per the manual it supports all P4 and also mentions about the HT feature.

the company website is always closed. so i need some help from techies.

the board is KOB VIA P4 M 266 A NDMx

The PC wizard software it tells that the motherboard supports HT
and also tells that HT is disabled
BUT
on my PC in the BIOS there is no any section of HT seen
based on these facts

The Experts need to clarify on following :--

Currently i am using celeron 1.7 Ghz which will be replaced by a P4(2.8 or 3.06) processor. Apparently there is a voltage difference between 2 processors (Vcc VID).
Is processor replacement is plug and play ? or do i need to do some jumper resetting specifically for this voltage adjustment?
I will have to change jumpers for FSB but did't came across anything that says about CPU voltage.

will the HT option in BIOS appear after fitting a P4 HT CPU ??
or HT option must always present in BIOS.
will BIOS upgradation will activate the HT option.??

where to get various version of the bios as the company website is closed for quite some time

In case if the MOBO do not support HT, still will it take a HT cpu and still work without any glitches/hiccups?

or it must be a non-HT cpu ??

BIOS details : --- AMI bios

Specification of VIA P4M266 chipset says it support Northwood core CPUs (FSB 533) :

http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/chipsets/p4-series/p4m266/

Most of the old boards like this one had one rule : support max P4 Northwood 3,06 GHz HT (with disabled HT). What means HT is not supported. BIOS update only can help you with supporting some Northwood nonHT chips.
