The record US Blizzard has hit and snow is blowing sideways with 50-60 MPH winds outside my office door! I still have to drive home from work and I was wondering if any other CPU members have been or will be hit by this dangerous winter storm?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110201/us_nm/us_usa_weather
At least the damage won't be as bad as the floods in OZ!
Wish me luck getting home alive... _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

Oh man, you should see the cyclone about to hit the Queensland coast. Category 5, 1000km wide and winds around 300km. This is north of where the floods were, but here is the warning from our Bureau of Meterology:
"SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE YASI IS A LARGE AND VERY POWERFUL TROPICAL CYCLONE AND
POSES AN EXTREMELY SERIOUS THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY WITHIN THE WARNING AREA,
ESPECIALLY BETWEEN CAIRNS AND TOWNSVILLE.
DURING THE EVENING, THE VERY DESTRUCTIVE CORE OF CYCLONE YASI WILL CROSS THE
COAST BETWEEN CAIRNS AND INGHAM, ACCOMPANIED BY A DANGEROUS STORM TIDE SOUTH OF
THE CYCLONE CENTRE"

How is the temp in Chicago John? Report says down to -20 deg C, with windchill down to -30. That's getting a bit cold! _________________ My former Intel collection:

It will be -3F to -14F as the HIGH temp tomorrow (Thursday).
ATM it's a balmy +23F.
Here's a load of pics from NBC news site....

I almost drove home on Lake Shore Drive (LSD) last night. Instead, I drove side streets and avoided spending the night inside a freezing car, like hundreds of other drivers.
Everything is closed, so I will be spending part of the day shoveling paths to the garage, the street and digging out one of our cars that is buried.
The nicest impact is the almost total quietness when you step outside.
...and here's our back yard: _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

Hey, that photo is taken on Interstate 93 in New Hampshire.
I used to drive there every day. I never saw that car, though. |

I heard about Australian cyclon at TV - incredible how strong it can be. Susl45's photo reminds me a picture in my city about 2 months ago when I rode for shopping. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |
