This topic goes to Genna and others interested in Eastern chips:

First of all, I've got a couple of KR1858VM1 in plastic with letters OP (russian) near datecode. Could this mean eng. sample (Opitniy ekzemplyar) ? Besides, all the three 1858's have numbers printed on them - 3, 945, 948. I suspect there was a sample series of 1000 chips..... is this possible? Datecodes are identical: 9302.

Secondly, what does a small triangle printed on some soviet chips mean? Are those mil-spec ones? I have two 580VM80's: one with a triangle, one without it. Also, IM1821VM85A's have the triangle.

Next, what is a T34VM1 ? I know it is a clone of Z80, but why so strange series? T34.....? Kinda a tank Smile

Best regards, Slava, Ukraine

Genna, forgot to mention, that the T34VM1 that you and me have Smile has the OP mark too. Yours is stamped "306", mine - "467". I REALLY suspect it is an engeneering sample.

Yes, OP on soviet chips is equivalent to engineering sample. "Opitniy" translates to experimental.

Don't know what triangle means, but symbol for military chips is rombic shape like on this 589IK02:

And allmost allways K is missing then from device name also.

Okay, Elar, look at this chip. I have exactly the same one here.

It is not military, because has an M letter before 1804 series. That is for sure. BUT it has the rhomb.

I stay with the triangle Very Happy

It is military chip. Regular, consumer grade device has KM1804 in its name.

"OP" probably means "opytnaya partia", i.e. something like "test lot". The number on these chips is a lot number. This would explain why more than one chip is marked with the same number:

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Z80/USSR-T34VM1.html
http://www.cpu-museum.com/z80_e.htm

This also matches what I've heard before about T34VM1- that T34VM1 were the first Z80-compatible processors produced as test lots by Angstrem. T34VM1 is probably an internal name used just for those test lots.

BTW, thanks for pointing to those "OP" letters on the chip. I didn't even notice them before your post.

If you do know, what does that little triangle on some chips mean? I'm trying to get information about it from different sources, but nobody knows. Confused
