Hi All
Do you know what is a Cyrix Cx487S40QP ?
I took it from a i386DX motherboard.
Tried google, found zero matches for this chip :) A piece of info would be appreciated.
Regards, Slava, Ukraine

This couldn't be on 386 mainboard because Cyrix 487 -40QP have 168 pins (386 cpu have 132 pins).

This chip is not a cpu, it's an fpu. It has 68 pins. It looks almost exactly like this:

But is named Cx487S40QP.

Man, I've no place to upload my photos, and my own website is not ready. I just showed a sample photo. It looks ALMOST like this except the cpu model name.

I know that is not CPU - in the fact FPU Smile Yap I didn't see photo of your 487 so I admited your looks like :

That is real FPU for Cyrix Fascache Smile I had one 486 class mainboard with external place for 387 FPU.

I have answered only to your question. Cool Cool
Why it's found on a mainboard 386 it's another question. Wink

Mine looks same as the one you pictured, except it doesn't have that socket around it.
