If you plan to overclock it then, perhaps, the fastest will be Core 2 Extreme QX9650. It can be found for $300 and up. If you don't want to overclock it then Q9650 will be a bit cheaper, and it has the same stock frequency as the QX9650. Those are top models, and they are overpriced. Q9550 is not overpriced as much, and it will be less than 10% slower than Q9650. BTW, many games still don't use all four cores, so to save money you can get Core 2 Duo E8600 - it should be around in $150 - $180 range, and it even will be faster than Q9650 in some games due to higher frequency.

damn all of them are over 400 dollers, and u are sure i can use them with my motherboard?
and is it worth it to just upgrade cpu rather then a new pc? because i was planning to buy a new PC in year 2013.
i have read some where that my motherboard is pretty powerfull after all, even if it 4 year old or something like that. |

Your processor is not bad. You may notice slight performance increase if you upgrade to QX9650/Q9650, but I'm not sure if you need to do that. Perhaps, you should see if you can upgrade other components first - add more memory, or upgrade video card.

I have 6gb memory and a ati 5750 hd this is the specs for graphic i think, i will check it later.
The reason i wanted to change cpu, is that my cpu fan is dead, i know fans are cheap, but i just thought i might as well get a new cpu with a fan ( boxset or whats it called)
But i would like to listen to ur advice one last time. |

If you want more power , just get a good cooler and overclock it. When I had my Q6600 i was easily able to o/c it to 2.8 without even changing voltages, it went to 3.0 without much trouble as well, just by giving it more volts, but you will need a good cooler no matter what cpu you want to run. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once."
