I am sorta thinking about collecting some EPROMs

Just one of each type (2708, 2716, etc)

What are your thoughts on this?

I collect all old chips such as RAM/ROM/EPROM, also non-Intel Chips.
So I think that's a good idea - especially at this time those chips are much cheaper than all those well-known CPUs.

So, this is what happens when you have collected all the CPU's there are. Wink Good to know if/when i reach that point! Mr. Green

In my opinion CPU's and FPU's have more background, technology and just excitement in them. RAM/ROM etc.... i don't know Rolling Eyes . It just does not fascinate me. I stick with CPU's and FPU's. Cool

Not a bad idea. It may be worth to collect other vintage RAM/ROM chips too, or maybe even bubble memory. I'm not ready to seriously collect them as I'm not done yet with CPUs/FPUs/MCUs Smile

Oh I'm never done.

I think If I do do it UI'll do just 80s and newer for now.

and will except donations froom other collectors.

It would be neat to make this a communitty EPROM collection.

I collect EPROMS Very Happy but mostly just the ones from the 1970s and early 1980s. When I first started collecting I bought several thousands of dollars worth of them. If you really wanted to collect them, I could really get you started. Just look at my trade list: http://www.vintagechiptrader.com/Intel/Trade%20List/Trade%20List.htm
I only have Intel chips though...

Good luck!
