That is for hard disk removal, that can be done with the machine running instead of shut down.

It means you still have to find how to change your bios, from not working to working. I suggest you try one of the several services on ebay "bios programming" or similar to buy a new chip prgrammed with the bios version you need to put your mobo back up and running.

Cheers!

I think means BIOS programming hot swap - I have done it successfuly only on same boards (same models - read same BIOS chips). What exactly flash memory you have in those boards ?

- I got it now...

I've never tried that as I don't have 2 identical boards Smile

That's why I'd like to get a flash prgrammer.

Read prints from BIOS flash chips because maybe they are same and I will tell you how to do this correctly.

Anyway I have flash programmers Willem and Wellon so you can use my service Wink

ok so i looked at them and i dont think they will work

the p4g8x says -
P4G83
E25D
GMT2

the a7a266 says -
Phoenix Bios
D686
024588106

they are different chips (socket wise)
i noticed that i had another gigabyte ga7zx mobo laying, it had the same socket type bios so should i give you guys the numbers on that tomorrow to see if its possible?

i pealed off the sticker and it read

Ok then hotswap isn't possible in this case - completely different chips and flash utility will not recognize it correctly.

There is only one solution - programm it or buy chip already programmed. I have SST 49LF004A and can send you programmed - you will only swap them. If you are interested then contact with me by private message.
