I have some nice-looking boxed processors in my collection. It'll take time before I put them on my website, so I decided to post their pictures in the forum.

The first is a rare boxed AMD 80C287 co-processor.:

Evergreen 586 is not rare, but the box looks cool:

I won't open them, although it's very interesting to see what's inside.

I never seen boxed 286, 386 or 486 processors except for upgrade/overdrive CPUs.

Although I haven't seen one, I think that the 486 chips with the blue heat sinks on them might have been boxed processors. Any thoughts?

I've never seen any Intel 386 or older CPUs boxed either.

Nice to see some boxes! I'd like to see more of them, why not make a 'show your boxes' thread? I only got two:

Intel 287XL front back

Intel Pentium MMX Overdrive front back

I have Intel 8087 in a box similar to 287XL. Front is almost the same:

Back is different:

It looks like Intel used this type of box for 8087, 80287 and 80387 processors.

They were making them after 1985. The 8087 box above has the date 11/15/1989 , the processor inside was also made in 1989.

My bad... I didn't see that date on the box. Wow, that's surprising.

I really like this IIT package, looks really futuristic Smile
I have one of these Am80c287 chips too, in an original box which unfortunatelly was already opened. But the chip inside the package is in a little plastic box which has a black back, transparent front with golden 'Advanced Micro Devices. Inc.' letters. This little box is still sealed and looks really beautyfull - I surely won't open it Very Happy

Hi,

I have some boxed coprocessors and processors. The Weitek is the most special, i made some pictures :

The first picture is of a very large box, about 30cm x 30cm.
http://www.cpu-info.com/webpics/Weitek2.jpg

The second picture shows the box that is stored in the large one from the first picture. This box contains the actual FPU. (21cm x 21cm)
http://www.cpu-info.com/webpics/Weitek3.jpg

The third picture is of manuals and other goodies that come with the box.
http://www.cpu-info.com/webpics/Weitek4.jpg

And finally the last picture is a scan from the manual, Can you see the ES markings???!!!!
http://www.cpu-info.com/webpics/Weitek1.jpg

In the Questions and Answers book that came with the FPU are the suggested retail prices.... $795 for the 20MHz 3167 and $1395 for the 25 MHz 4167!
