I'd imagine that this was done out of respect for the Islamic religion itself and those who follow it peacefully rather than those who take it to an extreme such as Osama Bin Laden. That, and I'm sure the government would rather not piss off a bunch of terrorists by desecrating the remains of a now martyr for their cause. Not that appeasing terrorists is a good message to send, but burying his body within 24 hours isn't all that difficult to do to possibly avoid a few ticked off potential terrorist extremists blowing up some innocent people with a car bomb on American soil. |

Seems for all the time and energy spent saying that he DIDNT represent islam in any way, then why go to the trouble of giving him a burial according to islamic tradition?
Ya cant have it both ways, either he represented islam, or he didnt.

| You can believe in a religion and not be a representative for it. Some Christan groups treat homosexuals as second class citizens and make public hateful remarks to them, but is that representative of the entire religion as a whole? Just because some people take their religious views to an extreme, thats doesn't mean that majority do. Osama was Islamic, just not a representative for Islam as a whole. Personally I'm no fan of Islam, but gotta play devils advocate sometimes. |
